LED and Neon Signage

Neon Signage was invented in 1910 by Georges Claude, in Paris. He patented it in 1915, and the first neon sign to appear in North America was at a Packard Dealership in Los Angeles.

Its appeal in signage was undeniable and soon neon signs proliferated.

Producing neon is a time-consuming, labour intensive process, and as labour costs increased and other, attractive, more cost-effective technologies were developed, neon was used less and less.

Often neon can still be seen in "Open" signs, found in the windows of countless establishments.

Still, today, where budgets are less of a concern than aesthetics, certain businesses choose to use neon to achieve a certain distinctive, nostalgic appeal.

Electra Sign still produces great design concepts and neon displays for customers focused on achieving that distinctive look!
